Ethics of Shopping and Returns

How ethical are we in the way we shop?

• Wardrobing: Is buying something for a single use—or “just to try it out”—and then returning it, ethical?
• Showrooming: Is it right to use a store’s staff and expertise, and then buy cheaper elsewhere?
• Honesty: If your “real” reason for a return incurs a fee, is it ethical to bend the truth to avoid it, especially when store policies are so lax?
